Welcome to my Blogs and Forums!

  • Welcome to my website!

Welcome along to my Blogs and Forums. Despite having had the domain name for some time, I've never actually taken the time to do anything 'proper' with the webspace itself. For the few of you who have come across my Blogs and Forums already, you'll have noticed that they're a bit sparse. Hopefully over the coming months that will change and content will be more readily available on here.

The site itself has as mentioned above had a Forum and Blogging software installed for a little over a year now. Primarily this was used to test out changes and help provide unofficial support at the home of the software provider - vBulletin. With the introduction of the new version powering this site now (vB4) I've decided to provide content on a few areas - when I get time to sit and write!:
    • Airshows (specifically those I've attended!)
    • Football (Scottish and in general)
    • Technology (not decided if this should have a focus yet!)

While this site is primarily for me to test things on the software, content (when it's posted!) will be mainly about my thoughts and interpretations, contributions on the above subjects will be more than welcome from 'guest writers' particularly if you've not got your own outlet. While the articles on the main Content part of the site will be more aimed at the factual the Blogs will be more of my opinions on things and a bit of insight into me and what's happening with and around me.

The Forums - well they're there for whatever you want to throw in there really! There's already 2 specific forums in place:
    • Humour Me - the place to post all those jokes/isecracks you get in email or text and
    • Showcase - an area showing off the websites I've built in the past (some may no longer be active)

As the site is, at the time of writing this, using a Beta or unstable version of the software, there may be the odd bug or two when you're in and looking round. If you do see anything you don't think is right, please do get in touch and let me know.

Of course, this is just the start of it - if you think that there's anything else that the site could benefit from then also let me know and I'll look at adding it in here.

Thanks for stopping by - don't be a stranger!

    • The Great Motorway Petrol Price Rip-Off
      by Trevor Hannant
As a regular traveller up and down the M6/M74, I know very well not to use the various service stations up and down these routes for anything other than a 'comfort break'. Unfortunately, on many of my journeys, I see so many people stop at these places for fuel and/or other items. With petrol prices already high, you could be forgiven for thinking that people will shop around for the best deal, particularly when they're about to set off on a longer journey where they know they're going to go through...

    • Leuchars Airshow - September 2010
      by Trevor Hannant
After last year's traffic 'fun', we decided to book early and get somewhere on the other side of Leuchars and use the Park and Ride facility in the hope that we enjoyed an easier run of it! Oh how wrong were we! Torrential rain overnight and early on the morning of this year's show resulted in our Park and Ride 'field' being put out of commission. As a result, we were re-directed to the main P&R site and, after some confusion amongst the local Police as to whether that was the site we were to...

    • Southport Airshow - September 2009
      by Trevor Hannant
Overcast and windy - what better way to spend a day by the seaside! That was the conditions that greeted the thousands who headed to Southport for one of the larger seaside airshows. This summary will be shorter than the Leuchars review I posted previously mainly because I didn't get my butt in gear to write it and as such, much of what we saw has faded into memories I can't bring back! Coupled with the pictures disappearing into the ether somewhere also and this makes for a very 'barebones' review!...

    • Scottish Football - The Future
      by Trevor Hannant
Sunday's SPL match between Hamilton Academical and Heart of Midlothian made the headlines for all the wrong reasons - 2 red cards on the field and a further 4 issued after a fracas in the tunnel afterwards took the attention from something far more worrying - the attendance for a top flight game of just 2,003! Following on from a recession which we may, or may not, be coming out of, seeing an attendance figure such as that will have caused alarm amongst some quarters as belts continue to get tigh...

    • Leuchars Airshow - September 2009
      by Trevor Hannant
After the disappointments of the weather affected 2008 show at RAF Leuchars and the cancellation of other UK shows earlier in the year down to similar circumstances, the chances seemed higher of this year's show being similarly hit than otherwise. In the end, Mother Nature turned on the style and greeted the morning with blue skies as far as the eye could see in what would be a pretty well perfect day for an airshow. After negotiating the notoriously long traffic queues towards Guardbridge (no, didn't...
