Yes, it's school summer holiday time which not only means the kids have got to be entertained for the next 6-7 weeks but my mother heads off to Los Angeles to stay with my brother and his family! :D

At the time of starting to write this (21.15 GMT), she's gone into normal 'pre-holiday' mode which roughly translates as 'I'll worry about everyone and everything else and run around sorting me out up until 10 minutes AFTER we were supposed to leave for the airport!'. You think I'm kidding? Let's go back to Easter time...

My mum received a call for help from Stateside on the Saturday evening around 7.00pm. We got her a flight booked for very early Sunday morning which meant being at Edinburgh airport for around 4.15/4.20am. At that time of the morning, it takes around 20 minutes to get there so if we left about 4, that would be just dandy. Bearing in mind that she decided she wouldn't go to bed, that gave her 8 hours to pack for a week long trip. Was she finished packing at 4am? Aye right... So, given that she spent the first 4 hours organising everything that she didn't need to and writing lists of this that and the next thing for me, even 4 hours to (not) get packed should have been plenty of time.

This holiday however, is for a month. If she couldn't pack for a week in an eight hour time frame, what are the chances of her packing for a month in the 3 hours before she plans on going to bed!? You do the maths!

Here's hoping that come 5.45 tomorrow morning I'll be walking out the door with her cases to the car, not chasing her around the house trying to get her to pack the last few things...

I'm not certainly not betting on it though...
